Episode 3: B1G Predictions, Preseason Accolades

Welcome back, listeners!

We appreciate you listening to our podcast. If you have any suggestions to make this podcast better, leave a comment here or on Facebook. T.J. and I are always looking to get better and make the most interesting podcast we can make.

Check out Episode 3 HERE!!!

On Episode 3 of the BIG Heartland Basketball Podcast, T.J. and I dive into our predictions for the B1G standings and give our insight on who will make the B1G First, Second, Third and All-Freshman teams, as well as the Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year.

In addition to this episode, T.J. and I thought it would be fun to include weekly games that we'll pick. At the end of the season, we'll see who picked better than the other. We decided on 5 games per week, choosing 1 IU game, 1 Nationally televised game, 1 other Indiana school's game and 2 other B1G games. Especially for these early games, I also decided to put a betting line on these games. These lines were made up by me and do not at all align with any betting service. We didn't have time to include those picks in the podcast this time, so I will include those here. Enjoy!

IU game: Indiana State @ IU (-18.5)
National game: Texas A&M v. West Virginia (-4.5)
Other Indiana game: Ball State @ Dayton (-5.5)
Other B1G game: Minnesota @ Providence (-1.5)
Other B1G game: Yale @ Wisconsin (-8.5)

T.J. = IU (-18.5), WVU (-4.5), Ball St. (+5.5), Minnesota (+1.5), Wisconsin (-8.5)

Jonathan = Indiana St. (+18.5), WVU (-4.5), Dayton (-5.5), Minnesota (+1.5), Yale (+8.5)

T.J. = 3-2, Jonathan = 2-3

Early Season Tournaments

Okay, here is my take on early season tournaments in college basketball: I love them, but there are way too many. That is the basic belief I have with early season tournaments, but I want to go a little further in depth with that basic belief. First, let's answer the questions: 1) Why do I love early season tournaments? and 2) Why do I feel there are too many? Why do I love early season tournaments? This one is easy. They're fun to watch. They are a sneak preview into the season that is about to come. It is a tiny sliver of the magic that we see in March and early April. They give us a brief look at just about any team that will be worth a damn this season in college basketball. No doubt, I love early season college basketball tournaments for all the reasons every college basketball fan has for loving the game. However, there are too many tournaments. Why do I feel that way? When you push aside tournaments like the Maui Invitational (Oh, sorry: The Maui Jim Maui Invitat

Episode #4: 1st Week Impressions, Predictions

First of all, I apologize for the delay of this podcast. I could not for the life of me get this episode to upload for whatever reason this past week. Finally, I was able to do it today. I don't know what I did differently to get it to upload, but whatever, it worked. I'm hopefully my technical inabilities will not rear its head for the next episode and I can get that one to you tonight or tomorrow night!!! Check out  Episode #4 HERE!!! In our fourth edition of The BIG Heartland Basketball Podcast, T.J. and I discuss the first week of basketball, which I know seems like it was forever ago, and you would be kinda right. We talk about some of our surprises and disappointments, and we record our predictions for last week's games. I know the games have already been played, but you can listen and laugh at our dumb predictions because a lot of them were WAY off! Enjoy Episode #4 and be on the lookout for Episode #5, which I should be getting to you tonight or tomorrow nigh
